Accent Table Makeover

This Accent Table Makeover is just the latest in my list of quick turnaround projects.  It began the way so many of my projects do… with a trip to the thrift store.  It was there that I found this sweet little table just sitting there with only a $12.99 price tag stuck on top.  I absolutely did not need it, but somehow it wound up in my shopping basket anyway!  I had visions of it painted an airy mint green, with soft pink, hand-painted roses calling attention to the rounded scallops and detailed leg carvings.  Those visions became reality and my video tutorial, above, shows you every step of the process. If you prefer still photos, continue reading.

Poolside Towel Rack

towel rack

I love when a trip to the thrift store pays off!  And, it sure did a few days ago, when I hit the local Goodwill store in search of something I could use to hang towels on when we’re out by the pool.  Low and behold, an old quilt stand proved to be the perfect find.  It became a Poolside Towel Rack with very little work, and at very little cost. Vintage Trunk Turned Treasure

This Vintage Trunk Turned Treasure is the ultimate in repurposing.  As do so many of my projects, it began with a trip to the thrift store…and this time, it ends with a one-of-a-kind coffee table.   Best of all, other thrift store finds were used to complete the project!  Legs were taken off a used night stand, and a leather belt was cut up and used to repair the worn out handles.  Check out my latest video tutorial, “Vintage Trunk Turned Treasure,” and get inspired to take on a DIY repurposing project of your own. Then check out my Living Room Makeover, and see how I saved money there.

From Trash to Treasure

12286107_10206174003483629_167240463_nThis antique piece of furniture, literally, went From Trash to Treasure, and I am absolutely in love with how it turned out.  It was a project taken on by Jennifer Tasso, who is one of my blog followers in Syracuse, New York.  It is with her permission that I share the photo, and her DIY success story.  Can you believe, she found it on the side of the road!?! What Ever Became of It?

Sometimes I can’t help but wonder, “What Ever Became of It?”  As a painter and Do-It-Yourselfer, I’ll pour my heart into a particular project, and once done, never see it again.  It doesn’t bother me.  But it sure is nice sometimes, when people send me pictures of a canvas I painted, or a piece of furniture I redid, and I get to see how it’s being put to use in daily life.  That was certainly the case with the picture you see above.  I worked on both the rocking horse and the rocking chair well before that sweet little blue-eyed girl was born.  And to have a photo of her using them absolutely melts my heart. Repurposed Nightstand

A Repurposed Nightstand is now ready for playtime as a child’s kitchenette.  It’s one of my favorite projects to date. Learn how to transform an old piece of furniture, that is unwanted and unused, into a one-of-a-kind family keepsake.  For this video tutorial, I use items found entirely at thrift stores. I use craft paints, used hardware, and even a thrift store pillowcase to achieve a darling kitchenette.  Get ready to get cookin’ with this Repurposed Nightstand!
