Murals in Childrens Rooms

Sports Themed Playroom

This Sports Themed Playroom is scoring big thanks to a personalized wall mural and a few inexpensive touches. It’s also a perfect example of how being surrounded by the things you love, can turn a mundane room into one of the most used spaces in your home.  Be sure to check out the video tutorial by clicking on the picture above.  I’m also including a written blog with pictures below. Train-Theme Murals

train-theme murals

Pack your bags and get ready for some Train-theme Murals, as well as a trip down memory lane.  It was four years ago that I had the unique opportunity of painting a series of murals in the Kids Ministry Center at my church.  They wanted murals that would make children feel like they were going on a journey aboard the “Grace Express.”  Given carte blanche to paint whatever I wanted, they ended up with trains in every classroom, an entry way turned into a train station, and even train tracks on the concrete floors!  The only thing I didn’t do was paint Train-theme Murals in the children’s restrooms.  That is…until now.  Continue Reading →

Castle Mural

I feel like the queen of the Castle Mural.  If there’s one thing I’ve painted more than anything else through the years, it would have to be castles.  I’m not at all complaining, either.  I happen to love them.  Real or not, castles are magical.  They inspire the imagination.  So, naturally, castle murals are a popular choice when it comes to decorating children’s rooms.  Recently I was asked to paint a Castle Mural in a baby nursery, and I thought it was the perfect project to record on video.  Continue Reading →

Paint Concrete Floors (Train-Themed Murals – Part 5)

DSC_0361 copyWe’re staying on track with more Train-Themed Murals, and I mean that quite literally.  In this blog, I’ll show you how to Paint Concrete Floors.  I wish I could take credit for the idea, but it was already done elsewhere.  Once I was shown a picture, I couldn’t wait to paint the concrete floors in my church’s Kids’ Ministry area and see if I could improve on the idea! Train Murals – Part 4 (Find Inspiration)

train murals

If you’ve been following my blog, we’re staying on track with Train Murals.  I spent six and a half weeks painting every hallway and every classroom in the Kid’s Ministry area of my church to give children the feeling they were going on a journey aboard The Grace Express.   It was a lot of fun, but also A LOT of ground to cover.  So now, in Part 4, I’ll show you where to Find Inspiration for a project this size.  Continue Reading →

I Think I Can, I Think I Can (Train Murals – Part 3)

painting

“I Think I Can, I Think I Can” pretty much sums up how I was feeling as I continued to pick up steam…and inspiration, for more train murals.  At this point, I had just finished painting a train station in the entry way of the Kid’s Ministry area at my church, when someone handed me a stack of books.  He was a serious railway buff and thought I wouldn’t mind seeing some of the stuff he had.  Wow!  It was exactly what I needed to get me going!  Even though my murals were cartoon style, I sketched out a train from one of the book covers and painted my first train in the Preschool classroom.  It was an older looking train with lots of character.  Keeping with our theme, I called it “The Grace Express.” Continue Reading →
