Fall 2020 Decor

fall 2020 decor

Here, in Arizona, we like to joke about having only two seasons:  Hot and Hotter!  The last couple of months of “Hotter” were particularly brutal.  So, you’ll have to excuse me for putting up my Fall 2020 Decor early.  With things so off-kilter this year, the moment the temperature dipped below 100º, I guess I got excited.   That said, I may have gotten a little carried away with all the pumpkins… especially those I painted masks on!  But I figured you can still draw inspiration from it all, and I’m even including a fun Time-Lapse video that’ll show you how to paint pumpkins. Thrift Store Furniture Makeover with Beyond Paint

I’m usually pretty good about starting and finishing projects in a timely manner.  But for some reason, this cute little dresser that my mom found for me at a thrift store has sat neglected in my garage for years.  I thought it was so unique with all it’s intricate detail, but I just didn’t know what to do with it. It wasn’t until I was contacted by Beyond Paint, that I decided to tackle this Thrift Store Furniture Makeover with Beyond Paint. Continue Reading →

Stars & Stripes Forever

Stars and Stripes Forever

It’s almost 4th of July and, for me, that means Stars & Stripes Forever.  No, really. My birthday is on the 4th of July, and forever people have been giving me gifts with stars & stripes.  You wouldn’t believe how many red, white & blue, knick knacks I own.  I’ve got old glory on platters, bowls, cups, serving spoons, place mats, table cloths, salt shakers… I really could go on about Stars & Stripes Forever.  But, hey, I’m not complaining. I actually really love it. In fact, I decided I’d add to it this year with a little patriotic painting of my own. These projects are so fun, I hope they inspire you to pull out your craft paints. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy

easy peasy lemon squeezyIn need of a quick pick-me-up? The answer could be Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy.  It’s amazing how adding a few lemons here and there can brighten up the place and leave you feeling just a little bit happier.  Maybe it’s because lemons are the color of sunshine, or maybe it’s because they’re chock full of Vitamin C and contain all sorts of health benefits.  What I know for certain is, lemons aren’t just good for consuming, they’re great for decorating…and they may even inspire you to paint. Sew Inspired

Sew Inspired

I’ve spent the last couple of days doing something I never, in my wildest dreams, imagined I’d be doing…sewing face masks.  But, as I pulled out my 1937 Singer, rolling it’s squeaky wheels across my bathroom floor in order to sew where the lighting is best, the same sentimental feelings washed over me.  The reason?  There’s a fantastic story behind my sewing machine.  It’s one of sacrifice, love, & God. Quirky Quarantine Time Garden

Quirky Quarantine Time Garden

You don’t need me to tell you, these are some strange times we’re living in.  The Coronavirus wasn’t even on my radar a couple of months ago, and now as I write this, I’m doing my part to “flatten the curve” and am adhering to quarantine guidelines.  I pray all of you who follow my blogs are staying healthy and being safe out there.  We’re all in this together.  The way I see it, there’s no room for panic.  Just arm yourself with the facts, use wisdom, and choose faith over fear every time. Simple Fall Touches

Simple Fall Touches

I love Fall.  I didn’t always.  But now that I live in Arizona, where the weather is glorious this time of year, I absolutely love it.  And so, I tend to get a little carried away when it comes to Fall decorating.  In my opinion, you can never have too many pumpkins or fake leaves.  Don’t judge.  The leaves don’t really turn here.  So, if we want to see those gorgeous yellow, orange, and brown hues, we have to embrace the fake.

After adding some Simple Fall Touches to my kitchen, I thought I’d share a few pictures so you can see how easy it is to make your home feel warm, inviting, and seasonally festive.  As a bonus, I’ll throw in the world’s simplest recipe for pumpkin muffins with a brown sugar streusel top.  They’ll make your home even smell like Fall! Garden Retreat

Garden Retreat

I wish I could say this Garden Retreat is in my own backyard, but it’s not.  It belongs to my sister who lives in Silver City, New Mexico.  This past week, I visited for a couple of days and was able to soak in the scenery while sipping on a glass of iced tea.  It was fantastic, although short lived.  That’s because the rest of the time I was helping my sister gather rocks for a walkway, shovel dirt, and paint what she hopes will be her future “she shed.”  It was hard work making her Garden Retreat picture perfect, but we laughed through the sweat dripping down our foreheads and into our eyes!  So, I hope you enjoy this blog and are inspired by all the pictures I’ll be sharing.
