I had more than a few doubts when I took on this Accent Cabinet Makeover. But now that it’s been structurally reinforced, re-painted, and dolled up, I have to admit, it turned out better than I expected. This poor cabinet was pretty much on its last leg when a friend brought it to me and asked me to -quote- “see what I could do with it.” I thought it was cute, but it was in really, REALLY bad shape. Just see for yourself what it looked like before: Continue Reading →
Woodsy Hexagon Wreath
I’m in love with my Woodsy Hexagon Wreath. It’s perfect in its simplicity, and can easily be decorated for any season by simply changing up the ribbon and greenery. Best of all, there’s no other one like it anywhere. The idea for it came when I began noticing hexagons in all sorts of design elements, like kitchen backsplashes, shelving, and even jewelry. Crafty Christmas
Have yourself a very Crafty Christmas! I certainly am. For the last couple of months I’ve been up to my eyeballs in building and painting decorations for a candy-themed Christmas party. (Which explains why I haven’t posted any blogs in a while.) Now that I’m finally finished, I’m free to move on to other projects, and more importantly, my husband is free to park in the garage again. Just take a look at how all my Christmas craftiness took over: Continue Reading →
Music Room Makeover
This Music Room Makeover is hitting all the right notes. It’s bold. It’s brassy. And it’s just a tiny bit mid-century modern inspired. Now that I’m loving it, I keep asking myself, “Why did it take so long to re-do it?” Then I remember. The answer can be summed up simply in the “Before” picture: Continue Reading →
Train-Theme Murals
Pack your bags and get ready for some Train-theme Murals, as well as a trip down memory lane. It was four years ago that I had the unique opportunity of painting a series of murals in the Kids Ministry Center at my church. They wanted murals that would make children feel like they were going on a journey aboard the “Grace Express.” Given carte blanche to paint whatever I wanted, they ended up with trains in every classroom, an entry way turned into a train station, and even train tracks on the concrete floors! The only thing I didn’t do was paint Train-theme Murals in the children’s restrooms. That is…until now. Continue Reading →
Jewelry Display Stand
This Jewelry Display Stand may motivate you to dust off your old jewelry box and finally do something about those unused pieces of jewelry. And, I’m not saying that because of how darling this louvered door now showcases jewelry, and how the hand-painted embellishments add a little sweetness. I say that because of what the name “ReJeweled” is all about.
A dear friend of mine launched ~ReJeweled~ five and a half years ago as a ministry; taking donated broken pieces of jewelry and reworking them into something altogether different and beautiful. She gives much of it away to widows, single moms, and women who need their spirits lifted. “It’s beauty for ashes,” my friend Christina likes to say, “a reminder of how God takes our brokenness and redeems us.” So when she asked me if I could spruce up her louvered door that she uses to display her re-imagined jewelry, I was honored. Miniature Mouse in a Tin House
This Miniature Mouse in a Tin House was not only fun to make, it has my imagination spinning like it did when I was a child. I have ALWAYS loved mice. When I was a kid, I used to sit in my Dad’s pick up truck and stare at the vent near the passenger side floorboard, convinced that little mice would use it as a theater stage to sing songs and dance. That’s probably why, when I became a mom, most of the books I bought and read to my daughter were stories about mice. My favorites were “Tessa’s Tip-Tapping Toes” and “Mice and Beans.” But I digress.
