Love is in the air, and these Wedding Signs<\/strong> are proof!\u00a0 They’re my small contribution to one of my favorite couple’s Big Day.\u00a0 Their wedding is one I’ll most certainly remember for the rest of my life, and not because of the gorgeous aesthetic, but for the way they put God at the center of it all.\u00a0 It was overwhelming, and meaningful, and…. I could go on and on about it.\u00a0 But I know this blog is about the Wedding Signs<\/strong>, so read on, see lots more pictures, and get inspired.\u00a0 There’s no reason you can’t make some personalized signs for an upcoming event!<\/p>\n

All totaled, nine Wedding Signs<\/strong> were made, including one I forgot to even give to the couple that is still in my garage!\u00a0 (oops!)\u00a0 Using various pieces of wood that were given to me, as well as some pallets we had laying around, my husband did all the cutting and building, and I did all the staining and painting.\u00a0 It was a little like playing Tetris.\u00a0 We, literally, used every single piece of wood we had, and we used pre-cut pieces to determine the size of each sign and how many we could make.\u00a0 For a while there, my kitchen and garage were overtaken by Wedding Signs<\/strong>!\u00a0 But seeing them made my heart so happy.<\/p>\n

This next sign, with just the couple’s names and wedding date, was displayed prominently when you walked into the church.\u00a0 The bride’s parents made the backdrop for it out of wood pallets, then they hung the most darling framed photos of the bride and groom in their early years, as well as now.\u00a0 (In case you’re wondering, I do have permission to show their pictures.)<\/p>\n

This next sign, I thought was brilliant.\u00a0 I had never heard of an “unplugged wedding,” but I completely understand why it’s something some couple’s are insisting on these days.\u00a0 After all, how many amateur wedding photos have you seen posted all over social media before the couple even goes on their honeymoon?\u00a0 Sadly, that goes for any event nowadays.\u00a0 People don’t even take it in with their eyes, they’re too busy snapping photos on their cell phones, never mind the fact there’s a professional photographer hired to capture the memories more beautifully!\u00a0 But, I digress!\u00a0 Somebody, please get me off this soapbox, so I can continue with the topic of the blog!\u00a0 Ah, yes, the Unplugged Wedding Sign.\u00a0 Here it is:<\/p>\n

Cameras were allowed at the reception, where the next couple of photos were taken.\u00a0 I had been given some pieces of wood that already had been painted, so I just painted white right over it.\u00a0 I distressed it a little by wiping on a little gray paint around the edges.\u00a0 Then I painted the lettering in black.<\/p>\n

Here’s a quick synopsis of what it takes to make wedding signs like these:<\/p>\n

Once built and stained, painting them is the fun part, although lettering can be tricky.\u00a0 You’ll need regular acrylic paint and a very fine brush.\u00a0\u00a0 There are different ways to achieve beautiful lettering.\u00a0 You can free hand it, if you’re artistic enough.\u00a0 You can print out exactly what you want and use graphite paper to trace out your outline.\u00a0 Or you can use a projector to project your image onto the surface.\u00a0 It really is up to you.\u00a0 I like to experiment with different fonts, so I always type things up on my laptop first.\u00a0 And once I know what I want a sign to look like, I use my computer screen for reference.\u00a0 It’s not perfect, but that’s the beauty of art.\u00a0 It’s not supposed to be.<\/p>\n

I don’t have pictures of the ring bearer carrying the “Here Comes the Bride” sign down the aisle, but I’m sure, when the couple gets their wedding photos and shares them with family and friends, they’re going to be wonderful.\u00a0 Meantime, I’m just thrilled that the Wedding Signs<\/strong> I made were so beautifully displayed and impeccably embellished.\u00a0 It really was a wedding to remember; a union only God could have brought together.<\/p>\n
